Forest of Nightmares

The forest of nightmares is exactly as its name describes, a forest full of nightmares. Most dreaming wolves do not venture near this area, for the dark creatures nicknamed Nightmares are dangerous. It is a forest filled with the darkest of shadows, with black redwood trees. Mostly dark wolves reside here.

Shadow stood up from the small nest that he had made himself and stretched. He looked over at the scar on his shoulder that was no longer hidden by his fur and snarled slightly before takeing a stroll. He stared around at the trees in wonder of what the pack was doing at the moment and if they'd found his replacement yet. The male yawned before laying down in a clearing. He loved the eerie silence and the time to himself. He no longer had to worry about trying to fix his mistakes. He had ran out of time and failed, that was that. Shadow usually stayed in the dream realm in hopes of meeting another wolf. It did get rather lonely when you were one of the only dark wolves that wondered.

Blizzard's paws made no sound on the ground as he moved through the dark forest, muscles moving beneath his pelt with each step. His pelt was stained with a dark, almost black crimson red, the blood of the Nightmare he had barely managed to fight. He was disoriented, wandering through the dark, eery forest with no real destination in mind. He was in the dream realm, he knew from what the seekers had told him and from his very few experiences being there in the past. He was in the forest of Nightmares, proof being the horrendous creature lying dead at the edge of the silent forest. Blizzard didn't know why he was there. He had been brought to the dream realm few times by his dead brother Red, to be told something. But those times Red had met him immediately, and not one creature came to meet him except the Nightmare. He froze as he heard a noise, and his heart sped up, thudding against his ribcage as if it was trying to break out.

Nightmare?

He wondered, trying to peer through the thick darkness that shrouded the forest, but he had no luck. Growling softly in frustration, Blizzard tentatively took a step forward, pausing to see if anything moved. Nothing. He took another step forward, then another, until he was slowly walking towards where the sound came from. He stopped abruptly as he came across a clearing, a familiar figure coming into sight.

"Shadow?"

He muttered unintentionally, features surprisingly blank.

"If you're the sole holder of the truth, everyone must be lying."

The silence, so beautiful, has yet to be broken. And who would it's shatterer be? Verit himself, the brute that just loved it more than anything. His muscles contracted, relaxed, to make him move forward in swiftly performed lunges of pure strength. The fallen logs, branches that lay themselves to the dark, dirt and dead grass infested ground. The trees were fairly spread out, allowing for quick transportation.

The forest's edge seemed to just receed, move away endlessly into the tomb of darkness it housed. But what could Verit do? Other than keep on moving, of course. The shadows seemed to jump and move, follow, after his. The fashion I'm which was very uncoordinated, like a someone tripping after. The thing was though -- would he succumb to their deadly will?

That never ending silence was finally shattered when his paws lay themselves upon a few sticks and twigs, they snapped under the quick and overpowering pressure. The man's shaggy coat was rufflinf as the air hit it and went around, through. His jaws had been shut this whole time; he never once stopped to talk to himself. In the time it took him to follow the minimal amount of light to the ending point of the forest. His dark ears flicked around as he slowed his pace, easily coming to a halt at the very edge of the forest. Verit's body was not easily spotted, considering the amount of darkness the shrubs housed him in.

"But the reality in which you choose to let that actually be real, is just a perception to us all; for as much as we know, you could be the liar."

Shadow's ears perked up and he lifted his head, his teeth bared and his eyes slinted as he turned to the familiar voice until he relaxed himself until it was only a snarl and a glare. "I get one day that I decide to relax and here you come barging into the dream realm." the male muttered, just loud enough to be heard. Shadow sat and simply glared for a few moments then said "Hello Blizzard.." the words seemed to roll off of his toung with a hint of venom. "How are things in the world of the liveing?" he asked while scraping his paws across the cold earth.

I get one day that I decide to relax and here you come barging into the dream realm.

Blizzard made an indescribable sound in the back of his throat at the words, and it wasn't anywhere near pleasant. His gaze focused and unfocused on Shadow, breathing slowing down. It reminded him of the days when he would be a husk of a wolf, wandering around forests with no aim and purpose and fighting all he came across. It was disturbed him, and he immediately snapped out of it, standing tall and alert. He didn't get a chance to comment before Shadow was talking again, looking strangely calm yet venom dripping from his words.

Hello Blizzard... How are things in the world of the liveing?

The white brute didn't answer for a few moments, finding a bit difficult to grab coherent thoughts. He had heard that being the dream realm, most living wolves other then Seekers found it near impossible to think, since in the dream realm you are in a dream, and thoughts often slip away. Only Seekers and wolves who have lost their minds can manage to think, since Seekers are made for the dream realm and insane wolves are used to their thoughts coming in a confusing or twisted way.

"Hellish. Chaotic. Confusing. Just the usual."

He replied softly, tilting his head as his gaze bore into Shadow.

"I didn't willingly barge in here. I was summoned. Do you know by who?"

He asked slowly, dragging each syllable together. Moments paused before suddenly a scent reached Blizzard's nostrils. Male. Canine. Young. The scent was fresh, and it blew with force but he felt no wind. The strange thing was, it smelled... Alive.

"There is a living wolf running through these forests, who is foreign... That's strange. "

He said, thinking out loud. He turned to Shadow, and awaited a reply, rude or not. He didn't have rights to investigate the intruder for the dream realm belonged to the spirits. They had made THAT perfectly clear.

"Hellish. Chaotic. Confusing. Just the usual." Shadow thought for a moment before replying "That sounds nice." he then listened to the rest of what Blizzard had to say before replying "No I do not know and nor do I care. Company is rather slim around here unless you want to try socializeing with nightmares, stupid mutts can't even form a conversation without trying to eat you." Shadow lifted his nose into the air a sniffing for the foriegn canine. He huffed before padding towards the smell and waveing for Blizzard to come with him "Come along unless you want to chance running into another one of thos creatures." Shadow neared the scent before dropping into a crouch and stalking forward. He made no noise. Once he saw his target he stood up and padded cautiouslyup behind the male before speaking in a low voice "Hello.. what brings you into this part of the dream realm?"

His head whipped back to the voice his body swiftly following. "Demons of the living world," you could clearly tell Verit had to think on it for a second before he spoke. Something about this place misplaced his quick wits. He chuckled sofly as he raised his muzzle to the air' his cranium and eyes easily following closely. When he finished that drawn out, and menacing, chuckle, Verit lowered his head, muzzle, eyes back to the wolves. It was as if he knew what they would say before they Even did, before their expressions changed a mere tinge. "Drawn to this place like Hell's Demons are drawn to their ruler, vice versa," his voice was cleanly echoed, it almost sounded polished and well thought out. It was really an on the spot type of thing, his sophisticated impression fixing those minor flaws. While he spoke his ears flicked around toward the tiny noises and his eyes stayed staring at either of the wolves.

Shadow gave a scoff and just glared at the wolf "Where are you at within the territory?" he asked with a slight growl. Even if he was dead, Shadow still didn't like tresspassers on the pack's territory. Especially ones like this, they were the ones that turned out like Diamond. Shadow bristled at the thought of his pack being driven out again. he quickly dismissed it and snarled a little bit. "Blizzard is the pack's alpha", he pointed to the white male with his tail "As soon as you wake up you should go to him. If not" he narrowed his eyes "You should fear falling asleep."

The atmosphere was calming. Even if it was dark. Darker than anywhere she had ever been. It was quiet, in a satisfactory way. Breathing in deeply, taking in a cool breath, she padded around the area, dark mist-like tendrils occasionally curling around her paws. She liked this place very much.

She stopped abruptly as she sensed more creatures nearby. Prowling into the trees, her paws making no noise, her silver eyes glowed into the darkness. She saw 3 silhouettes in the distance, squinting slightly to try and make out. Edging just a bit nearer, she recognised Blizzard and....Shadow. She swore he had died; was his spirit tied to the Earth? And another wolf she didn't recognise. Was he an intruder? Or was he a new member?

Approaching them just a few metres more, she stood behind a tree, her dark fur helping her blend in into the background. She wasn't going to make herself known yet.

Blizzard merely nodded as Shadow padded towards the scent of the foriegn wolf, watching him disapear into the darkness. He stood there for a while, trying to decide if he should follow or if he should go and try to find the spirit that brought him into the dream realm. He sighed, shaking his head slightly before padding forword, pawsteps light and silent. The brute could hear voices growing louder, though he couldn't exactly understand what the exact words were that were being said, and smelled several scents as he neared. Finally he saw Shadow, and the foriegn male standing in front of him. There was another scent, besides the two of the males in front of him, but due to his sluggish thoughts he couldn't quite place it. It was familiar. Blizzard pushed the matter of the scent to the back of his mind and padded up beside Shadow, lips pulled back to reveal long, blood stained canines and the fur on his back rose. He sensed that something was off about the wolf, something dangerous. He didn't speak, feeling as if it wasn't his time, and waited for anything to happen.

"You've noticed it, too?" He inquired softly. His head turned toward where the slightly obscured scent was coming from. He didn't answer any if the questions but simply nodded toward Shadow and then glanced to Blizzard and then back to where he thought the scent was coming from. It was obvious this place was not of earth, possibly a dream world? Verit's thoughts were not of the current subject, but of this shadowy world and the scent that consumed his nostrils. The male's ears pricked back to his skull slightly and one twisted toward the sound of light paw steps coming closer, they were very faint. Verit's eyes gleamed in the darkness as his tail began to swish back and forth.

Shadow trotted towards the scent, teeth slightly bared. He got close enough to where he recognized the scent. His head was clear in this place, he had stayed here since his death.. he even made a small den. "Seeker, come out dear..." he could tell who it was now, he was only about 5 feet away from Phynix. "As far as I'm concerned this wolf is your problem when you wake up, not mine." He waved his tail then trotted off, stopping beside the stranger "If you die in a dream you die for real." he said before trotting off and laying down to take a nap in his little den.

"Seeker, come out dear..."

Phynix's emotionless expression didn't change. She was anticipating her half-hearted attempt to hide to be found out quickly. Her silver eyes flashing in the darkness, she stepped out of the trees and into the clearing. Muttering, her voice smooth, "I have a name, you know. It's Phynix. I thought you would have known that."

Her eyes shifted to the newcomer, narrowing slightly as she didn't recognise him or his scent. She gave a fox-like grin towards him before turning her gaze to Blizzard. "It's not polite to bear your teeth, Alpha." Her tail swayed slowly like a pendulum, enjoying the dark mist swirling around her. She was in a good mood today and she hoped it wouldn't sour by the end of the day. "Care to share what's going on?"

Blizzard didn't respond to the rouges question,
instead only remaining in a stiff, rigid posture,
head held high with ears perked forward, standing
tall. His deep, dark forest green gaze didn't
leave the new comers until Shadow moved, and then
the white brute was watching as the former lead
warrior told a seeker to step out of hiding.
Blizzard just grunted in dismissil before turning
his attention to Phynix, his female beta, and
growled lowly at her comment but nothing more.
He wasn't in a good enough mood to be corrected
about his manners, whether it be in a playful way
or not. He shifted on his paws, returning his
gaze back to the rouge, ears flicking towards
Phynix when she asked him a question.

"There is a surprise vistor here,"

He lifted his muzzle and pointed it at the rouge
before continuing.

"Alive. Meaning a rouge is out and about asleep in
the territory... The point being that I am going
to have to beat Crow after this and then search."

He said, voice holding a dry tone. He wasn't really
planning to hurt his male beta, but the black brute
had been in charge of boarder patrols the last time
he had checked. More just a joke then anything, to
relieve some of the tension he felt from being in
this place. Blizzard turned back to the matter at
hand, turning and addressing the rouge.

"Name, bussiness and then awake. It is better to
handle matters in the waking world."

He said, ears perked forward as he waited for a
response.

He padded noiselessly forward, unsure of where he was and to be honest; slightly nervous. The large grey wolf continued forward, silently cursing his lack of sight over and over again. It just really proved; Life wasn't fair. The battle had confused him so much and in the end he'd somehow ended up away from Diamond, his steps faltered for a moment and emotions stabbed him hard. And where was he now? Though the healer was blind, he could still hear and smell perfectly, in fact, his other senses were now a lot sharper after the loss of sight. He could tell he was definitely not in a bright cheery place anyway, in fact it seemed to be the complete opposite. This didn't bother Jay, it was what he was used to actually, but it was the sudden scents that invaded his nostrils that caused him to stop, curling back his upper lip as one in particular seemed to stand out. Blizzard. His first thought was to stop but it was already evident that this was too late and he would not turn around and run away when the white pelted male could still see him. Gritting his teeth, he stepped forward. He was seriously outnumbered, death could surely not be far away.

Shadow imediatly turned around as a new scent hit him. It was Jay, the former lead knew the scent well. He was one of the last prisoners that the male had brought in, other than Diamond. He ignored the rest of the wolves as he stormed past, staring directly into the wolf's blind eyes as he stomped up to him. "I watched that fight..." he said in a low voice "I know that you wanted this pack to fall, and that if you hadn't been blind you would've fought us that day." he said, lightning crackleing from his pelt out of anger "It's not my place to kill you, however much I'd like to.." he added "I'll let Blizzard decide what to do with you." he glared "I hope he'll choose a better option than he last did when I left it up to him." he growled, to low for the others to hear as he turned and sat beside Blizzard.

Blizzard's ears perked forward as the sound of approaching footsteps reached his ears, and his nose scrunched up as a familiar scent entered his nostrils, causing his lips to curl up and expose his fangs. He still hadn't gotten a reply from the foriegn wolf, and he was getting agitated. His dark green gaze flickered over to see Jay, standing a little ways away. He snarled, eyes flashing dangerously. He felt like something was happening in the waking world and he growled. The white brute watched as Shadow spoke to Jay, yet Blizzard couldn't hear exactly what was being said. He shook himself, trying to shake the overwhelming sense that he was needed in some way, but it wouldn't go away.
"I'll let you deal with the nightmares. I have more important matters to handle."
He ground out, feeling himself start to fade. He was waking up. "And you better hope that we don't find you sleeping." He growled out, his world fading to black.

Jay turned and saw Shadow march up to him, recognizing the male by scent. Wait....he saw...Shadow. This just didn't make any sense. For a moment all he wanted to do was look at stuff, no matter how dull to the eye this place seemed, it was just the actual seeing of it that left him breathless. However, his golden eyes slitted and focused on Shadow, his lips curled back as he glared hotly at the male that had first taken him prisoner into the horrid ranks of Silvermoon. He felt so much more powerful with the access to see but something about Shadow seemed off, it also seemed to make the wolf Jay hated even more stronger then before. Growling and shaking away these thoughts, confirming to himself that he was just being over-suspicious.Listening to the male speak of making the pack fall only made Jay's anger rise "All I ever wanted with this pack" he hissed, eyes blazing "Was somewhere to live and able to heal and such in peace, relying that due to my pack I won't starve because of my lack of sight but no, I get taken as a prisoner and your foolish alpha hated me from the start for my blindness, something I never chose to have! So yes, I do think Silvermoon should've fallen that day!" Jay himself was quite brutal and savage and though he'd wanted a pack so he could rest in peace, he wasn't one for the whole being loyal and trusting his pack. Yet now he was stuck in this mess and he didn't like it. Not one bit.

Jay snarled as Shadow voiced his wanting to kill him but then saying it was Blizzard's turn. Upon hearing the name being mentioned, Jay's growls intensified and the large male turned as Blizzard spoke. As the white male faded, Jay could not help but feel a sense of deep fore bidding. Where had he fallen down to sleep?? Or great lupus, he couldn't let this male kill him in his sleep. And what did he say about nightmares....his gaze dropped on Shadow. This had to be some sort of dream realm, and then....a bad dream....a nightmare. Except this nightmare was real, staring at Shadow he kept his hackles raised, fangs bared and a snarl rumbling from deep within his throat. If he were to die today, he would go down fighting.

He was silent the entire time, just watching and listening. There wasn't more to do in his life than die, so the simple answer would be to do just that. Being a schizoid, Verit always thought his life meant little and that he could die at any moment in time. The voices, the actions and the threat, it didn't scare him or even flare the least bit of aggressiveness... just silence,. His amber gaze quickly moved over to the gray male sfter Blizzard had awoken. There was something about this wolf that seemed
Like it was of Shadow too. But Verit wasn't good at telling the dead apart from the living.

His tail swished slightly back and forth as he watched the two interact, never once gazing over at the one that Shadow had a dressed. It was when his ears fell back against his skull and all of his visible movement stopped that he easily gazed over at the female wolf, then back to Shadow and the other. The emptionlessness to that look of his was overwhelming, of was almost scary how his features could look so bland and silenced.

Shadow watched as Blizzard faded then walked back over to Jay. "It was you who denied to answer my questions and attacked, it was your own foolish arrogance that had you taken prisoner. You have a choice, wake up and leave the territory, die by the paws of Blizzard, nightmares, or mine.." he snarled at the male, eyes like blue fire. He looked over at the new male, "If you want to wake up and join the pack I think now would be the time..." he looked back at Jay "Your choice, I'd be happy about a round two." he sat and glared. "Or you can always go back to the pack and plead for forgiveness, though I'd find it hard to believe that Blizzardwould spare a traitor." he growled.

The situation was getting messy. A new wolf had appeared, one she wasn't familiar with. She blinked blearily, boredom obvious in her eyes. Shadow had begun growling at 'Jay', which was borderline irritating, though she didn't voice it out.

"All I ever wanted with this pack was somewhere to live and able to heal and such in peace, relying that due to my pack I won't starve because of my lack of sight but no, I get taken as a prisoner and your foolish alpha hated me from the start for my blindness, something I never chose to have! So yes, I do think Silvermoon should've fallen that day!"

She didn't flinch at the animosity displayed, though she was beginning to feel a small headache coming up. She sighed and bowed her head. 'You're all idiots.'

She spoke in a soft tone, "Shadow. I implore you not to cause chaos in this realm." If a fight broke out here, who knows what could happen. True, the battle between the rogues and the others weren't exactly related to her, yes, she was there but she hardly participated. This Jay was of no concern to her, but she was cautious of the black tendrils that curled their way around their paws. They seemed alive. Too alive, in fact. She had an inkling that if they were disrupted, terrible things would happen, therefore the best thing she could do was prevent an unnecessary spat.

Jay's emotions went all over the place during Shadow's words. At times fury burned deep within him, others he felt himself grinning with an insane gleam in his blind eyes that he somehow could see out of at the moment but then there was that deep bitter regret that stabbed him at times. Memories of his father smiling and urging him on as he practiced killing small critters and then watching as the adult male struck down his siblings as pups one by one, declaring that they were just not strong enough and him nodding proudly at surviving. The ground dropped beneath his paws and e felt sick yet pushed it away, dragging up his upper lip and snarling furiously "And you think I was right in the head? I was driven insane, insane and you and your friends had to come and annoy me" he snarled bitterly, claws out. He hardly even noticed the female speak, eyes drifting over her carelessly before turning back again, the only female he'd ever cared about was Diamond and she was gone.

Shadow whipped his head around to look at phynix "Stay out of this!" he then turned back to Jay. "You think that what you've seen can drive a wolf insane?" he stared for a second before lashing out, quick as a viper, he bit down as hard as he could on the Jay's muzzle. Before rakeing his claws down his side then letting go "If you liked Diamond so much I'll fight you like I did her!" his eyes were ablaze now, the heat of battle pulsing through his veins.

He watched with slight bemusement as the male snapped at the black female before turning back to him. Jay let out a low growl at the male's words and replied acidly; "Yes. Yes I have." In a second the male was on top of him and biting down hard on Jay's muzzle. The jaws that clamped around was strong, too strong and it seemed to be putting on all the strength it could muster which was probably why there was then a sickening snap as his muzzle broke and the male raked his claws across Jay's flanks.

"If you liked Diamond so much I'll fight you like I did her!"

This froze the large male for a moment, eyes widening in surprise. How did Shadow know of his feelings for Diamond?! He took a deep breath, spitting blood though he was no unsure on what to do, his muzzle was broken he could not use it. That meant he would not be able to eat or bite. This was bad. Very bad. Yet he could not give up now, body searing with agony as the claw marks down his side leaked blood and stung like hell and blood trickled from his oddly bent and broken muzzle, producing pain like he never felt. Yet there was a deep anger to do this, for Diamond.

He allowed his claws to slice across the male's face dangerously close to his eyes and they came back with red sticky stuff on it. Yet if Shadow could get at Jay's muzzle that'd be terrible, horrendous images of Shadow having him pinned and standing on the broken muzzle or taking it in his teeth and crushing the already broken bones made him falter for a moment with a wave of nausea, yet he pushed it back down and his claws raked across the male's nose to rip the soft skin.
